Welcome to Skinny Mystic, a magical lifestyle and new age spirituality blog, where I am excited to document the mystical places my spiritual journey takes me. I am so excited about this new venture - a little nervous but mostly excited because this is exactly what I'm supposed to be doing. I've had so much undeniable synchronicity in my life lately and so many thoughts that have stuck for what I know are big reasons - this blog is one of them!
I have so much I want to share - Let's jump right into my first post!

Ah, the crisp feeling of New Moon energy. If we are open to receive, we have the opportunity for new beginnings and fresh slates on a monthly basis - this is so exciting to me! Now is the time to deep clean and cleanse your space (Pay attention to how you feel. You may be naturally inclined to clean during this time!), for a face mask and a super serene bath, and to just stay in and rest up. This is an introspective time.
You may have heard of working with the moon - if you're new to this, I recommend checking out Moonology and Lunar Abundance. When we work in tune with the cycle of the moon, we are working with the flow of the Universe. You know the feeling of being in the flow - you make it to all of your appointments on time, you aren't forgetful or unpleasantly surprised, you have no trouble finding all the right things to say. And when you're out of the flow, well, when it rains, it pours, and these are the times you find yourself asking what else can possibly go wrong (Tip for your next bad day, don't speak more bleh into the Universe. She will accept your challenge. Instead, make a mental gratefulness list and try your hardest to create your own good vibes to get to multiplying).
Working towards our goals intertwined with the moon's cycle offers us time to plan, time to act, time to rest, and time to release. I'm excited to follow the moon and cover this process throughout the month. Let's get to part one: the planning phase.
I recommend very super first, that you do your New Moon wishing the night before a new moon rather than after (some official moon rises happen at 6AM or 3PM - anytime). I also recommend checking to see what sign the moon is in, to see what areas you'll have an astrological upper hand in. It's a goal to share Moon updates on the site, but for now, I recommend Moonology for easily digestible daily moon info.
I. Step one of making your New Moon wish is to write down an abundance of things you are grateful for. Write until your hand hurts. I have a specific gratitude journal that I use only for this. You're opening your heart, and gratitude is a lovely vibe-raiser that makes you ready to receiving and see the beauty in what you receive. Think of this as an easy way to radiate good karma.
II. Make a list of achievable intentions for this month. It was more natural for me to do this list on the numerical first of the month, but now that I am trying to align myself as much as possible, the New Moon is the ideal time for me to do this now. Take time on this list, use fun colors and your own designs - the more time you spend on this, the more magic you give it!
III. Give yourself an overall big goal for the month. This is your New Moon wish! You can be inspired by the tone of your intentions - Do you want to focus on family, domestic duties, work, finances, passion projects, et cetra? Or do you want to use this energy to open yourself up to the broadness of wisdom, new opportunity, and abundance?
VI. Let your wish be known. Say it, preferably in a ritualistic bath or the moonlight. Add what feels right, like crystals, candles, specific colors, or gentle music. Feel this wish being granted. The joy it will bring you. You can say affirmations like I accept, I am deserving of, and I am excited to recieve.
IV. You will know when it is time to release this wish, and I recommend releasing it with something like I release this wish with the intent of my highest good.
Use the rest of this New Moon energy to relax, but be receptive. Prepare for your wish to be granted! Spend the coming time doing lots of journaling and being mindful. Watch the thoughts that won't pass, opportunities for meetings and to share ideas, take note of your daily moods and inclinations, and also what phase the moon is in.
The next installation of this series will be all about working with your intentions when the moon is in the Waxing phase, and will be posted soon!
Until next time,
